Designers, furniture manufacturers and end customers increasingly demand natural stone surfaces as substitutes for tiles, slate and granite. The Sparkling Stone surface – an alternative to natural stone – offers new design possibilities using laminate- or melamine-coated surfaces. Using a specially developed production method, the press tool – press plate or endless press belt – can be used to apply gloss effects to the surface to reflect the appearance of an actual granite floor. The gloss spots look like the crystals of a natural surface and can be enhanced by the strategic selection of a décor paper. A plain-coloured décor paper is particularly effective as the gloss spots give the laminate- or melamine-coated surface the highly desirable appearance of a polished granite surface. Thus the floor has the look and feel of a granite floor.
